        Hi,

we have a water fountain right after the security screening that is also available for passengers going to terminal B. We know there is no fountain yet at terminal B, but we are investigating the possibilities for that location.

If you are flying from B gates, there is a water fountain outside the restrooms between Gates B7 and B9.

Unfortunately, because of COVID-19, the drinking fountains at the sanitary blocks are currently unavailable for hygiene reasons. We hope that it will be possible to start using them again very soon!

There’s a small shop at Terminal A called Grab and Go that offers free water self refills. It’s between A43 and A45.

I asked Brussels Airport to ditch their 1euro bottles of water in single use plastic in march this year. The proceeds of the 1euro bottles were going to charity so that passengers were led to believe they were doing good by buying bottled water. The charities benefiting were WWF and UNESCO, two charities fighting plastic pollution who both actually advocate taking a reusable water bottle with you at all times “even on holiday”.   I asked Brussels Airport to ditch the entire stand and replace them with a row of refilling stations purpose built for bottles (i.e.not an arc type water fountain). I asked them to sell reusable water bottles with their logo and give the proceeds to charity and keep the donation box.

And they said yes! It will be installed in January 2020.

There is a water fountain between gates A54 and A56. It’s tucked between the toilet entrances.

According to the website Brussels Airport provides drinking fountains near the sanitary facilities. You will find six of them in Pier A and 3 in Pier B Departures level.

However someone has contacted us to say “there are no drinking fountains near the restrooms airside (near all the restaurants). Probably on purpose so you spend €3 on 250ml water – which is highway robbery.”

Water station at B gates has been removed. Possibly due to COVID?

The water fountain between A54 and A56 is no longer there…. Perhaps a COVID measure?

There’s no water fountain near the bathrooms anymore, due to COVID.
However, you can find free water bottles just after you go through the scans at gate A and there’s a small food corner next to gate A40 where you can refill your bottle for free. FYI.

Water Island between a43 and a45 turned off or not working as of 11:30pm on may 6. Forced to buy a water bottle. Stupid.

I didn’t see any water fountains on either the A or B gate concourses but there were a couple of stations with water bottles you could take for a 1 Euro honesty box donation. There was one on the left after security on the way to the A gates and one after passport control and the shops and cafes on the way to the B gates.

I asked Brussels Airport to ditch their prominent stand “Water With a Cause” after security that sells 1 euro bottles of water. the proceeds of the 1 euro bottles go to charities such as WWF and UNESCO which are active in the fight against plastic pollution. Although there are 7 fountains in Brussels Airport they are extremely hard to find, in the corners of the entrance to the toilets and are frequently out of order. I asked them to create a very prominent row of bottle refilling stations instead, immediately after screening and also sell reusable water bottles with the airport logo and the profits going to the same charities. I also asked for them to keep the donation box, so that passengers could donate directly to the charities rather than contributing to the problems they are fighting.
                                They said yes!
The new bottle refilling stations will be installed in January 2020; In the meantime, they have removed the link between donating to charity and buying single-use plastic, so the stand – although prominent – just sells 1 euro bottles of water.
As you know taking water on board airplanes is imperative especially in summer and the tiny cups in single-use plastic given on-board only contribute even more to our load of plastic. We believe this will save tens of thousands of single-use plastic bottles of water every week. The Sustainability Team at Brussels Airport have been marvelous!

No water fountain (at least at terminal B) I flew late in the evening, asked in one of the cafes if they would fill my water bottle and they did.

Hi there, we regret to read this was the case. Please note that we also have a secondary refill station right after the security screening when you walk toward the A-gates in case the one near A45 is not working.
