Refill bar does not provide water and airport staff say they don’t have any taps in the departures hall

There is no free drinking water available at the airport, not even in the restrooms.

The only drinking water available is for sale in bottles.
Is this even legal?

Very disappoinring that there is nowhere in the departures lounge at Chania airport to refill a water bottle. Also the cafe Refill refused to fill my bottle despite previous posts saying they were happy to do so.

very disappointed to be refused water at the bar in the departures lounge. Hydration is a basic human right. The issue of no free drinking water for anyone through security in an airport/place which is very hot and dry is disgraceful.

No water fountain after the security control.

We used tap water even though it’s said that it is mot drinkable.

3 water fountains at departure lounge before security control.

Chania airport has available tap water facilities.
In detail the locations of the operative water coolers in the Terminal are :
2 at arrivals baggage reclaim area for public use
3 at departures and arrivals hall for public use
1 before security control for public use
4 coolers at restricted areas accessible only by airport personnel

Go to the Refill Bar in the Departure lounge and ask for a water refill. They were very helpful.

I was about to post, as others have, that there is no refill at Chania airport as I was refused at one café/bar after Security but then I asked someone refilling the fridge in another café, in my “best Greek” and he took my bottle and filled it even before I got to the end of my halting sentence! So it IS possible -just show your bottle and look naive. Greek not necessary but a greeting & thanks always appreciated.

Same experience – asked for a refill at every bar past security and got refused. Some quoted ‘policy’. Seems like a way of extracting money.
