Linate now has a water fountain. As you go down the escalator from the shopping area into departure lounge A, the fountain is on the right outside the entrance to the toilets.

The water fountain mentioned by OReed; on the right near the toilets as you get down the escalator from shopping area to waiting lounge A is still operating as of July 23, 2024.

Quite strange that they don’t have it in more places.

I have my (empty) water bottle. How hard is it to provide free drinking water even in a first world country?

Still no fountain to be found but with the new hand luggage check in you can at least bring as much liquids as you want, so bring a big bottle of water !
